Mackinac Bridge Authority

Michigan’s firearm deer season runs from November 15 – 30. From Nov. 15 through Dec. 2 (to include those leaving from their hunting destinations over the next couple of days), at the Mackinac Bridge, toll collectors poll customers as to whether they have any whitetail deer that they have harvested during this season. Those numbers are tracked, tallied and compared to the previous year’s numbers. These numbers are collected only from Southbound traffic and are recorded by the Bridge Services Supervisor at 7am, 3pm, and 11pm to correlate with most collector shifts. Those numbers are posted on the toll booths at those times, and the website and twitter are updated at less frequent intervals. This number is not 100% accurate as the survey is completely voluntary.
